Designing High-Quality Experiences To Facilitate High-Quality Lives

About

The Intrinsic motivation to design a more sustainable world fuels my fondness for acquiring new skills and perspectives. I believe that designing even the most fleeting experiences with consideration and intention will accumulatively facilitate improvements in human and environmental conditions worldwide. As an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan I volunteered at the American Cancer Society and the Veterans Affairs Hospital while studying design, these parallel experiences seeded a lasting curiosity in how complex industries could work together to build more sustainable systems and new design approaches.

After several years working as a designer in Chicago, I decided to further my education in multidisciplinary research and obtained a Master of Research degree in Healthcare & Design at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. My academic research focused on how we might use artificially intelligent digital learning platforms to engage research participants who struggle with communication and consent. Despite the complex healthcare and design challenges faced by the world today, I am very excited about the future of technology and its role in building a more thoughtful, ethical, and intentional world.

As a Senior UX Strategist for Throughline Inc. I currently work with a variety of private and public sector clients to ensure their services and products are equitable, accessible, and intuitive for users, while meeting the business goals of their organizations. A few of my responsibilities at Throughline include the following:

  • Developing service blueprints for current and future environments.

  • Qualitative and quantitative user research, systems analysis, and implementation strategy development.

  • Collaboration with corporate executives, government/military leaders, and their employees, end users, and other experts.

  • Organizing an internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Task Force to improve company culture and solution validity.

  • Developing data collection standards to improve DE&I transparency and support implementation of organizational change.
